Hinterland — Real Estate Site Redesign
Listings that feel like places, search that behaves like search should, and a viewing-booking flow buyers actually finish.
Overview
Hinterland sells modern homes outside the city — but their site felt like a spreadsheet with photos. Buyers couldn't sense the places, and the enquiry form leaked half its starters. We redesigned around atmosphere first, logistics second.
The challenge
Real-estate detail lives in filters, maps and spec tables — the least atmospheric content on earth. The redesign had to carry cinematic property stories while keeping search fast and precise across hundreds of listings.
Approach
- Editorial listing pages: full-bleed photography, map, specs and availability in one scroll
- Instant-feeling search with saved criteria and shareable result links
- Three-step viewing booking with reminders — no account required
- React front end on the existing listings API, so editors kept their tools
Outcome
Listings with pull
Property pages read like features, not database rows — with enquiries to match.
Search that sticks
Saved criteria and shareable links bring buyers back instead of starting over.
Bookings completed
A shorter flow with reminders lifted finished viewing requests substantially.
